Senior User Experience Designer (San Francisco area, CA)

The User Experience (UX) team functions as an Expertise Center focused on User Experience Strategy, Research, and Design.  Organizationally, UX resides within the Business Technology Practice Area which works with ZS clients to design effective technology solutions that support & enhance critical business processes and manage the implementation of those solutions.  Within this practice area, the UX team, specifically, spearheads a variety of engagements from large scale business transformation to interactive dashboards, portals, and applications for mobile and desktop.

SENIOR USER EXPERIENCE DESIGNER

As a Senior User Experience Designer in the User Experience Consulting team, you know precisely what it means to create effective, efficient and beautiful interactions in dashboards, data visualizations, applications and information systems. Teams and clients will look to you for expertise in human factors, user behavior and design to enhance the experience of people using a broad range of digital and Business Intelligence solutions for mobile and Web.

If you have strong visual & interaction design skills for mobile and desktop business applications, are great at visualizing data according to best practices and have previous experience working in a human-centered design process, we’d like to meet you.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce best-in-class UX deliverables to articulate user research insights and provide a broad range of design solutions including task flows, navigation models, conceptual diagrams, user interfaces, information architecture, wireframes, screen mock ups, detailed visual designs, style guidelines and iconography
  • Collaborate with members of our global User Experience team of designers and  researchers    while integrated in various ZS projects
  • Consult internal ZS teams and clients to design effective & efficient solutions that meet users' needs in a variety of digital tools & technologies
  • Design solutions that ensure maximum usability and user engagement for the end-to-end experience by implementing best practices and leveraging industry standards
  • Craft visions and requirements into concepts and refine those concepts into design recommendations that achieve simplicity, despite the inherent complexity of the processes being supported
  • Ability to translate visual design concepts to reflect a client’s brand  in, as needed

Qualifications:

  • 3-8 years’ experience in Interaction, Information & Visual Design  for Business or Enterprise dashboards, applications for desktop and mobile
  • A formal degree in human computer interaction, interaction design, human factors, information science or a related design discipline, with a demonstrated record of academic success
  • Robust and diverse portfolio featuring user-centered design work with emphasis on data visualization, information graphics, Web, mobile & visual design
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially the ability to clearly articulate design decisions with stakeholders and development teams, and keep UX Consultants and Managers updated on project progress
  • A  passion for creating great user interfaces that solve real user problems while serving business needs
  • Expert level comprehension of user-centered design principles, careful attention to detail, and  ability to grasp and balance complex business and technical requirements
  • Exceptional ability to articulate design decisions for how they impact the user and relate to  user research or best practices  to UX Consultants, managers and diverse members of project teams
  • In-depth experience designing for mobile with a focus on delivering engaging user experiences
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams (including UX, business consulting, product management, technology, and engineering)
  • Familiarity with user research techniques such as contextual inquiry, user interviews, usability testing, and card sorting as well as proven ability to incorporate research insights into the user interface design process
  • Expert knowledge of design tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Axure, etc.
  • Knowledge of advanced data visualization techniques for Business Intelligence applications is a big plus
  • Ability to travel to client locations (10-25%) to work with teams and provide in-person expertise
  • Understanding of HTML and Multimedia to create working prototypes and interactive storytelling is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and work effectively on several projects simultaneously in a matrixed and fast paced environment
