Senior Creative, Medical Writer (San Francisco area, CA)

SENIOR CREATIVE-COPY, MEDICAL WRITER

We seek a scientifically-minded, experienced Senior Creative-Copy/Medical Writer to join our South San Francisco office and work closely with the Creative Director as part of the creative team to generate medical content, developing texts from clinical data through finished product for a professional audience. The Creative Lead Medical Writer will partner with the Creative Manager, internal teams and clients to distill complex data and analytics, crafting communications that are relevant, credible, memorable, and accessible. This writer possesses the unique ability to bridge his/her scientific medical knowledge with stellar communication skills and desire for continuous learning.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze and interpret data from primary and secondary research, generating relevant, compelling medical communications such as presentations, payer value stories, abstracts and publications, as well as educational materials;
  • Develop an understanding of audience unmet needs and target copy to appropriately meet them;
  • Partner with design and art leads to concept, develop and execute complete creative collateral with integrated art and copy;
  • Edit for organization, style, flow, accuracy and clarity of message, adherence to client/brand and FDA guidelines; proofreads at every round;
  • Fact-checks to ensure all content is accurate;
  • Acts as expert resource on grammar, punctuation, and other editorial issues;
  • Present ideas to clients, participate in proposals/pitches, and play a vocal role in team meetings
  • Leverage a variety of mediums (e.g. slide presentations, video, print material, 3D props), either independently or in conjunction with creative team and Strategic Planner;
  • Partner with Consultants, Managers, and Principals in the Business Consulting group, working on multiple projects simultaneously.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced science degree (PharmD, PhD or MD, etc.) and three (3) years or more corporate/business experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Some agency and payer communications experience preferred;
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals;
  • Attention to detail and exceptional oral and written communication skills;
  • Must demonstrate a command of the English language (read, write and speak);
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and to work well under pressure;
  • Familiarity with AMA style and FDA requirements governing pharmaceutical advertising required;
  • Must demonstrate strong experience in relationship building and collaboration with creative and strategic teams;
  • Portfolio showcasing evidence of strong presentation and a range of written forms.

 

ZS is a global consulting firm; fluency in English is required, additional fluency in at least one European or Asian language is desirable.
