ZS’ R&D Excellence Practice brings together experts in Strategy, Clinical Execution, Data Sciences and Technology to empower client organizations achieve their passion for patient care, science and business success. Through our “Lifecycle Evidence Strategy”, “Clinical Trial Optimization”, “Medical Affairs” and “Real World Evidence”, “Drug Safety” and “Bio-Medical Research” services, we deliver impact where it matters, from early drug development to commercialization. This role will be aligned with ZS R&D Excellence Practice Area and will be responsible for leading and enhancing our service in Pharmacovigilance and Drug Safety analytics.


The Role: PV & Drug Safety capability leader will have the responsibility of driving the development and growth of the PV & Drug Safety book of business working with the Practice Principal. As a leader, you will:

  • Be responsible to build and refine long term strategy for PV and Drug Safety Services. Help Create and execute annual growth plans
  • Lead business development for the PV & Safety book of business and help run the P&L
  • Identify talent needs and build the team via external and internal hiring and training.
  • Provide thought leadership and lead industry outreach as a market leader
  • Identify industry gaps and create consulting and technology solutions. Lead Productization and commercialization of safety / PV assets
  • Be a trusted advisor to clients. Establish and maintain executive level relationships with PV & Safety client leadership, decision makers and Safety technology leadership
  • Drive, hands-on, consulting, analytics and technology programs, prepare and present client presentations
  • Coach, mentor and evaluate PV team
  • Work cross functionally across ZS teams to partner for overall client delivery


  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or equivalent with MD, PhD, PharmD or MPH
  • 10+ years of experience, with at least a minimum of 5 years of global experience,in the life science industry leading Pharmacovigilance and/or Drug Safety functions, strategy and operations. Additional 5+ years of consulting experience preferred
  • Experience in variety of therapeutic areas, in both Clinical and Post Market safety. Aggregate reporting, PSUR, DSUR, Experience in Safety Registries.
  • Expert level knowledge of signal evaluation, risk management and formal benefit-risk assessment.
  • Experience involving strategic interactions with regulatory agencies (FDA, EMA, and PMDA) and participation on industry consortium like (e.g. TransCelerate, PhRMA)
  • Experience working with technology solutions in Safety & PV (e.g. Argus, Aris-G) for case processing database migrations, signal detection and evaluation etc.
  • Experience with with real world data and other big data sources (EHR, social media, observational databases) and usage of new technologies like AI/ML for safety use cases 

Additional skills:

  • Strategic thinker with a comprehensive knowledge of the latest industry trend and the ability to bring innovative solutions and analytics to solve challenges in Safety and PV
  • Executive level presence and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with driving revenue within existing clients and in developing new prospects at the senior level.
  • Has published thought leadership pieces
  • Willingness to travel to other global offices as needed to work with client or other internal project teams.


ZS is a global consulting firm; fluency in English is required, additional fluency in at least one European or Asian language is desirable.
