Instructional Design Developer (Evanston, IL)

Human Resources develops and executes successful recruiting programs, learning and expertise-development initiatives, strategic staffing assignments, effective reporting and analytics, performance management processes, and work-life benefits and operations.


We seek an Instructional Design Lead that will focus on virtual solutions to join our ZS Learning team. This Instructional Designer will be responsible for driving high quality learning experiences for all eLearning and instructor-led programs, virtual classroom design, tool kits, and performance support aids. The role requires demonstrated experience throughout the learning development project life cycle from scoping projects, needs analysis, design and development in addition to learning evaluation. Candidates should also possess excellent writing and verbal communication skills, superior skills in explaining technical topics to novices and strong presentation skills.


  • Draw out the stakeholder’s instructional goals and objectives and offer analysis, design, and development options for achieving best outcomes with the intended ZSer learning communities and subject matter. When appropriate, draft storyboards and prototypes with the stakeholder for new online learning activities.
  • Collaborate on the adoption of appropriate instructional technologies that can help advance training. Inform leadership of new delivery strategies and training options and include facets of social and peer learning, game-based learning, informal learning, etc as needed
  • Apply best practices in adult learning to design, write, and build a range of high-quality learning experiences, with an emphasis on e-learning, video, animations, games, etc
  • Exercise superior project management and workflow coordination services. Should be able to partner with senior business stakeholders to keep project timelines in check.
  • Should be strong at defining learning objectives, scenarios, building simulations, audio scripts, progress checks, performance evaluations and knowledge assessments
  • Utilizes ADDIE, SAM, Kirkpatrick and other recognized models to design, develop and publish engaging course content, learning activities and knowledge assessments for ILT, online, virtual and blended modalities.
  • Maintain currency in current learning content, sciences and instructional design principles for effective support of delivery at all times
  • Collaborate with the LMS team to upload, test and maintain content to an LMS.


  • BA/BS degree required with strong academic performance, MBA or Master of Science in training and development, human resources development, education, organizational psychology, or related field preferred. Instructional Design experience required;
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience in a learning function;
  • Demonstrated working knowledge with multiple authoring tools such as Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, and Adobe Connect or WebEx Training Center;
  • Experience in project management and process improvement
  • Self-directed with strong communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills and an ability to multi-task across concurrent projects and attention to detail
  • Ability to establish relationships across levels and across geographies
  • Strong analytic skills/comfort with data analysis;


ZS is a global consulting firm; fluency in English is required, additional fluency in at least one European or Asian language is desirable.
