Marketing Lead - Strategic Project Manager (Evanston, IL)

We seek an experienced marketing professional for a Strategic Project Manager role in our Evanston, IL office. Reporting to the Associate Director, Integrated Marketing, this role is responsible for implementing PMO processes and policies, while managing the overall execution of complex, active programs with large cross-functional teams to ensure that they meet business goals and requirements. The person will work closely with senior marketing leadership, as well as individuals on the marketing team, which include industry marketers, writers/editors, designers, digital marketers and event coordinators. This person will oversee the marketing project production process and associated technology to ensure all milestones and requirements are met, using influence to predict and eliminate bottlenecks or resource constraints. In addition, they will act as the project owner for strategic corporate marketing initiatives throughout the year.


  • Project & Resource Planning & Execution – Meticulously monitor high-priority marketing program deliverables, helping managers make necessary and continuous project trade-off decisions, while ensuring efficient delivery by project teams.
  • Communication & Relationship Management – Serve as a mediator among project team members. Ensure deadlines are effectively communicated and met. Collaboratively manage program communication. Coordinate and lead marketing production/stand-up meetings. Report program status including progress, productivity and risk to marketing leadership team.
  • Marketing Process Management & Training – Continuously refine workflow processes across the team. Own and update Marketing Resource Management (MRM) technology to align with changing processes. Monitor use of the MRM system, offering training to new team members and ongoing training across the team to continuously improve business process and efficiency. Own the documentation of all marketing assets, housed in our Marketing Asset Library. Work with IT and/or vendor to maintain and improve usability of asset repository.
  • Own Specific Corporate Marketing Initiatives – Lead the project management of corporate initiatives, including: ZS holiday card distribution (working closely with writers, creative director, digital marketers, consulting partners and office admins), ZS Products On Demand Portal (working closely with creative director and office administrative team), and marketing newsletter (working closely with Marketing Leadership team).
  • Quality Assurance – Work with marketing managers to identify gaps in quality. Refine processes, training and communications to continuously improve quality standards across the team.
  • Assist with the marketing planning process (e.g. milestones, participants, actions, templates,calendar), ensuring marketing’s goals are aligned with business and product objectives


  • Bachelor's degree required in marketing, advertising, communications or a related business discipline, advanced degree preferred;
  • 5-10 years of relevant project management experience. Prior work at an agency and/or solid understanding of multichannel marketing programs required. Project Management Certification(s) expected.

  • Exceptional organizational skills, including great attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience successfully developing and managing plans, budgets and tracking deadlines for complex deliverables.
  • Resilience under pressure and against deadlines.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills – both verbal and written, including experience presenting to and influencing senior executives in a highly matrixed, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to present to large size (50+ attendees).
  • Proficient with Microsoft SharePoint, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Martech tools including Marketo,, Hubspot, etc
  • Must be a self-starter who excels at multi-tasking with strong ability to prioritize to meet business needs.
  • Must possess confidence and assertiveness; ability to build respect and credibility with colleagues and senior leaders
  • Strong international collaboration skills required. Previous experience working with India preferred.
  • Willingness to shift working hours to regularly meet with marketing team members in New Delhi.
  • Travel approximately 5-10%. Ability to travel internationally (to India) up to 3 times per year.
