Financial Planning and Analysis Specialist

Finance is responsible for all ZS financial matters, including financial planning, analysis, reporting, accounts receivable, general ledger and tax.


We seek an experienced finance professional for a Finance Specialist role in our Evanston, IL office. The Financial Specialist will provide commercial analysis and support to our business. Reporting to a Finance Manager, the role will help us manage financial performance, develop future projections and apply your commercial skills to help improve profitability across our business.


  • Provide financial analysis for our regions, business units and corporate functions;
  • Provide support to the CFO and other senior company leaders across a range of activities from analysis and issue identification through to strategic initiatives;
  • Ownership of annual and longer-term company planning together with ongoing in year projects of company earnings and performance;
  • Identify and resolve any financial issues related to company operations;
  • Conduct proactive analysis on our business and identify opportunities for commercial improvement;
  • Drive monthly resource planning and supply/demand capacity management;
  • Management of investment projects, critical internal initiatives, acquisitions, and partnerships – prepare/validate business cases and track progress;
  • Prepare analysis and presentations for key company meetings – Board of Directors, Management Committee, Principals Meetings, Regional Leadership Meetings;
  • Proactively identify critical trends within the business and initiate actions to improve company performance and support ongoing growth and expansion;
  • Support CFO in completing ad-hoc projects, e.g., @2025 Vision, Near-shoring strategy;
  • Drive initiatives to enhance reporting and analytics methods in finance and HR.
  • Provide reporting on our financial status and outlook;
  • Identify financial risks/issues and provide practical advice to help leadership address them;
  • Engage effectively with colleagues at all levels within ZS;
  • Mentor and lead junior team members;
  • Increase the awareness of good financial management practices across the firm.


  • BA/BS degree in Finance or closely related field required, advanced degree welcomed;
  • 5-7 years’ experience in financial analysis supporting internal business units or stakeholders;
  • Expertise using Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook);
  • Excellent organizational and task management skills;
  • Ability to think strategically and commercially and a willingness to dive down into the details;
  • Ability to work closely with senior leaders while retaining objective and professional finance perspective;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills;
  • Attention to detail, with results-based mindset;
  • Naturally curious and pro-active;
  • Judgment to know when to challenge something and when to lend support;
  • High motivation, strong work ethic and personal initiative;
  • Aptitude for, and enjoyment of, working in, and leading, teams.
  • Experience with PowerBI or other BI platforms is a plus
