Head of Event Marketing (Evanston, IL)

We seek an Event Marketing Manager to join the Marketing Team in our Evanston, IL office. Reporting to the Associate Director, Integrated Marketing, this individual will be accountable for working side-by-side with our stakeholders to build stronger, more valuable relationships with their clients and prospects.  This individual must leverage proven experience to develop a comprehensive events strategy, working collaboratively with senior leaders to ensure that ZS’s largest marketing channel is optimized, the team is highly effective and delivering proven results. The ideal candidate is creative yet results-oriented – demonstrating years of proven leadership managing an experienced events team in a collaborative, corporate environment. This candidate should exude impeccable attention to detail, have a unique ability to continuously prioritize work, all while priding themselves meeting deadlines and consistently exceeding expectations of clients and stakeholders.


  • Build an events strategy – Develop an events strategy that is woven together as an integral part of our overall engagement approach, working with senior business and marketing leaders to ensure we’re reaching the right audiences, at the right time and engaging them in the right way.  To accomplish this, the events manager will need to immerse themselves in our business, understanding fundamental go-to-market approaches and the needs/opportunities of the target audience while effectively and continuously researching and proposing new event and speaking opportunities which align with our business and marketing objectives. The strategy must also include ways to develop and implement best practices to elevate our quality, improve consistency and deliver more impact.

  • Extend capabilities – Identify and leverage new/emerging technologies and partnerships to expand the capabilities of the team to gain more leverage and improve ZS’s ability to deliver world-class events beyond what we’re delivering today.

  • Manage the events team – Focus on the professional development and day-to-day management of the team (2-4 individuals) to ensure focus of defined priorities and delivery of expected results.

  • Orient the events strategy, portfolio and team around measurable outcomes – Collaborate with stakeholders to define event objectives and work to ensure the team consistently measures and communicates event performance against defined objectives and ROI targets.  Leverage this event information/data, and integrate into other Marketing technology tools and systems, to drive change within event portfolio and across ZS’s marketing engagement strategy.

  • Influence senior leaders – Collaborate with ZS presenters, sharing best practices to ensure they deliver a memorable, engaging presentation. Institute a formal speaker training program to improve presentation facilitation and delivery.

  • Independently manage events – Act as an individual contributor, executing events with precision. This will include providing recommendations to ZS senior leaders within regarding: event logistics, internal communications, audience acquisition, negotiating/contracting, experimental design, budgets, etc.

  • Maintain the integrity of the ZS brand – Work with the Visual Communications and Editorial teams to ensure our brand is clearly explained and represented across all event platforms.


  • BA/BS degree required, MBA preferred;
  • 10-12+ years managing B2B events, ideally for a large professional services organization;
  • 5+ years of proven experience successfully leading a corporate events team;
  • Demonstrated experience managing a multi-million dollar portfolio of events and producing high-touch events for 250+ clients;
  • Possess an unique ability to continuously assess priorities and motivate team members to focus on delivering highest-value work;
  • Need to build strong, trusted, and enduring relationships with internal clients and vendors;
  • Demonstrate strong competence in simultaneously managing multiple projects with attention to detail, achieving all deadlines, and performing analysis to determine ROI;
  • Experience working with Marketing Technology tools and platforms. Examples include: CRM (SFDC), Marketing Automation Platforms (Marketo), CVENT, etc. 
  • Self-motivated and independent;
  • Ability to travel to approximately 25%.



ZS is a global consulting firm; fluency in English is required, additional fluency in at least one European or Asian language is desirable.
