Editorial Lead (Evanston, IL)

The Marketing and Communications team helps build the ZS brand, champion thought leadership, support business development and engage our past, present and future workforce.

We seek an experienced editor to join our marketing and communications team in our Evanston, IL office. Reporting into the Head of Content, the Editor will work closely with portfolio marketers and practice area leaders to build a content strategy that aligns with their business and marketing objectives. The editor will be responsible for producing thought leadership and sales enablement content to align with campaign objectives, while also working to enhance draft content produced by SMEs to align with campaign themes and tell an integrated story. 

The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, working to ensure content is credible, relevant and unique in the market. They should be highly collaborative, and willing to partner SMEs, marketers, other writers, designers and digital experts, both internally and with external vendors to produce high-quality content. 

EDITORIAL  LEAD

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the portfolio marketing team to develop a content strategy aligned to the buyers’ journey and built on industry trends, custom research, provocative POVs, competitive insight and content performance best practices.
  • Create compelling, unique content aligned with corporate campaign strategy and packaged using content types that suit the target audience’s content consumption behaviors and preferences.
  • Distill complex content into a compelling, narrative-driven story while guiding SMEs through the content creation process
  • Write, ghostwrite and copy edit articles, infographics, case studies, white papers, brochures, web copy and more in collaboration with—and on behalf of—ZS’s pharmaceutical subject matter experts
  • Interview clients and other industry experts for content development
  • Script Q&As, videos, and podcasts to develop compelling story lines and asset type mix
  • Evangelize and educate relevant teams on content strategy best practices. Ensure that the ZS voice, tone, style and brand positioning are reflected appropriately in all content projects
  • Partner with the portfolio marketing and events team to develop event content used in keynote presentations, promotional videos, social media, and more. Ensure narratives effectively highlight key insights clearly and compellingly
  • Stay abreast of pharmaceutical and healthcare industry news, trends and timely topics, feeding that information back to portfolio marketers and SMEs to aid in their insights development

Qualifications:

  • B.A./B.S. degree required, advanced degree welcome
  • 5-8 years of relevant work experience, with in-depth knowledge of healthcare, sales and marketing topics preferred
  • First-hand experience with high-quality, research-based journalism or thought leadership; expert of AP style
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience writing within the healthcare/pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience working across all forms of content: written, video, infographics, podcasts and sales tools
  • Proven experience working with senior leaders, demonstrating effective stakeholder management skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize, multitask, exhibit flexibility and remain responsive as demands change
  • Strong ability to use content and project management systems to produce and publish content. Examples include: Adobe Experience Manager, Kapost, Contently, Percolate, Hubspot, etc.
  • Experience conducting compelling interviews and synthesizing research and information into succinct summaries and meaningful prose
  • Experience developing web and social media content
